What to see in Stockholm: Stadshuset, City Hall

Stadshuset, the City Hall of Stockholm is one of the iconic buildings and, one of the buildings of the tourist destinations, not to be missed during a trip to the Swedish capital.

Built between 1911 and 1923 by the architect Ragnar Ostberg, is a perfect example of the National Romantic style, and represents the artistic creativity of the time. The best craftsmen and artists from Sweden, in fact, involved in its implementation.

The City Hall is the political heart of the city, and the seat of ceremonies and important events, such as the banquet given in honor of Nobel Prize winners, so you can access it only through guided tours. In the sky of Malaysia: the Sky Bridge and the cable car in Langkawi

In Langkawi, known as the home of the beaches and most luxurious spa, in fact there are two structures that give views and feelings for those who do not suffer from the height: a 1.7 km long cable car, which starts at the Oriental Village (in the Burau Bay) to arrive at the jungle-covered hills of Machincang Ranges.

Australia: Tour of the underground gold mine at Walhalla

The Walhalla is usually associated with religious references in northern Europe. But it also indicates an area of the region of Victoria, Australia. At Walhalla we find an interesting museum, housed in the old tunnels of a gold mine now abandoned.

The Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine came with the first excavations in 1836 by Hercules United Gold Company, but definitely wrong path and direction, lying for 8 years to dig useless rock devoid of precious minerals. Taking advantage of the bankruptcy of its predecessor, the Long Tunnel Extended Company began to dig in 1871, but this time in the opposite direction. Balearic Islands: The most beautiful beaches in Majorca

The Balearic Islands, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, are not only famous for the great vitality of their nights and the number of discos and clubs that host. There are many other reasons to enjoy a few days of vacation in those areas.

First of all, the sea and the beaches. Let us see how it behaves Majorca in fact of beaches and coasts suitable for snorkeling (even if for diving it seems that Ibiza and Formentera are the best destinations).

Great Sand Dunes National Park

The sand dunes of the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, United States, are not only a place of contemplation and discovery of nature in its most extreme forms, but also a kind of natural playground (and could not be otherwise, since we are in the land of amusement parks), where we are also playing, descending from the dunes. How? As you like, on foot, with surfing, snowboarding or skiing.

And perhaps the hardest thing is to get here, in Moscow (it just as the capital of Russia), in Colorado, because then, the area occupied by the desert, which the venerable age of 444,000 years, is quite small, about 77 square kilometers, and the greatest danger that we run, is derived from the high temperatures reached during the American summer; even 60 degrees. The Darwin festival in Australia: August 9 to 26

Darwin in Australia, not only the gateway to a vast and still untouched, territory (sometimes close and accessible, as in the case of Litchfield Park and the Kakadu Park), but also the dynamic capital of a state, the Northern Territory, in rapid economic development, which attracts the young “professionals” from around Australia. And young people, after working hours, they want to have fun.

And in August, there is more opportunity for fun, thanks to the Darwin Festival 2012, held August 9 to 26. Art exhibitions, cabaret, theater, music and dancing, certainly to make live and vibrate the city, but also as a form of integration for the natives. The Tea Garden Set Ustu in Istanbul

Set Ustu in Gulhane Park in Istanbul, is not only a place for tea in the tradition of Istanbul, it is also an excellent vantage point of the Bosphorus; you sit down (preferably on weekdays, so you need not fear “competition” by residents), you order tea, and you will be served with the traditional brass samovar, with strainer, sugar and cups to be filled with tea.

You can relax while sipping tea, but also wanting a coffee or a soft drink, if you are hungry, you can eat meatballs with potatoes, watching the sea, where, if you’re lucky, you see dolphins as they pass between two seas, and always, on any day, the wakes of ships; and it is not uncommon for someone to sit down here, with a book in his hand, indicating that it is a regular customer of Set Ustu. Giant Buddha of Leshan: China

The photos below you see that – as you’ve imagined – show the stone statue larger than the world depicting Buddha. It is located near the city of Leshan, Sichuan Province in China.

Construction began in 713 by a Chinese monk, to try to calm the raging currents of the nearby rivers. It was completed only ninety years later.

The statue is about 71 meters, is part of the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site and represents Maitreya Buddha in a sitting position, hands on knees.

What to do in August in Holland: All upcoming events

The schedule of August in Holland is full of events. There’s something for every taste. It will start already on 1 August with the Gay Pride in Amsterdam, at which movies, exhibitions, workshops and attend parties. The event runs until August 5, the salient moment of the Gay Pride will be the Canal Parade.

From August 10 until 19, again in Amsterdam, it is completely different genre with the Canals Festival and the historic city center will become the most beautiful concert hall in Holland, you can attend concerts on floating platforms in the canals, hidden in courtyards, in the historical rooms of the palaces and terraces.
