Here you will find this amazing memorial dedicated to General George Washington, first President, founding father, and Mason, which was awarded the position of Grand Master of the Lodge in Alexandria.

George Washington Masonic Memorial

The tower has a clear reference to the Tower of Alexandria, the ancient lighthouse for sailors, and the scholars of all time, full of a symbol which is full of masonry. The Memorial, whose tower is over 100 meters (climb to the top to enjoy the beautiful view), was built three times the 1922 and 1932, although internally, the works were completed only in 1970. The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles

Walt Disney Concert Hall

Frank Gehry will not go unnoticed, and perhaps that “contaminates” the most important city in the world, creating his own works. In this case we are in Los Angeles, where he was born, artistically speaking, where he won the competition organized by Lillian Disney, widow of Walt, for the construction of a concert hall where the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chorus of Los Angeles could perform.

Walt Disney Concert Hall

In the best traditions it took several years for its realization (in 1987 the competition, in 2003 the opening to the public), and also a lot of money (the costs went up along the way), but all from the private, led by Mrs. Lilian and the Walt Disney Company. Goblin Valley: the valley of the goblins in Utah

Goblin Valley

In the United States there are so many parks, spectacular scenery, spectacular natural, that eventually some of these are overshadowed by most famous, like the case of Goblin Valley, the Valley of the Goblins, in the western state of Utah.

Goblin Valley

The main feature of the park, are its rock formations, commonly known as Fairy Chimneys, the most famous of which are the pyramids of Goreme, in Turkey.

Obviously, the valley was well known to Native Americans, but we “whites”, discovered the valley, only in 1920, by chance, given that the discovery is commonly attributed to the cowboys who were looking for calves, escaped from the herd. Stay in New York: Room Mate Grace Hotel

Room Mate Grace Hotel

The Room Mate Grace Hotel of New York is located in the heart of the tourist center that tourism cannot be more of the city, just steps from Times Square, the loved-hated tourist trap where all visitors shoots for the first taste of the Big Apple.

Room Mate Grace Hotel

Times Square aside, the location is really interesting, everything is within walking distance, such as the Central Park 5th Avenue. And the hotel is really nice: the rooms are clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, the common areas are very nice and the pool adds that extra edge that differentiates it from the classic mega-hotel with a mini-camera in New York. Great Sand Dunes National Park

Great Sand Dunes National Park

The sand dunes of the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, United States, are not only a place of contemplation and discovery of nature in its most extreme forms, but also a kind of natural playground (and could not be otherwise, since we are in the land of amusement parks), where we are also playing, descending from the dunes. How? As you like, on foot, with surfing, snowboarding or skiing.

Great Sand Dunes National Park

And perhaps the hardest thing is to get here, in Moscow (it just as the capital of Russia), in Colorado, because then, the area occupied by the desert, which the venerable age of 444,000 years, is quite small, about 77 square kilometers, and the greatest danger that we run, is derived from the high temperatures reached during the American summer; even 60 degrees. Post Ranch Inn: Ultra scenic cliffs of California

Post Ranch Inn

Film and TV have accustomed us to think of California as a state with only sandy coasts and beaches. Instead those parts you can also find areas where the sea breaks against extensive reefs, perhaps dominated by ranches that offer opportunities to stay really interesting. As the Post Ranch Inn, a hotel perched a top a tall stretch of coast, located on top of a hill from where you can enjoy a panorama really very broad.

Post Ranch Inn

The Statue of Liberty will reopen (maybe) in autumn

Statue of Liberty

August is not the best month to visit Manhattan in New York, when the asphalt bubbles, children play with the water that comes out of the hydrants, and to recover a little, ‘is almost obligatory to walk into a store, pretending want to buy something.

Statue of Liberty

In this case, if we arrive in New York this summer, it is good to know that the Statue of Liberty, one of the most visited spot in New York, is not yet open to the public, and that the recent rumors tell that it will be until the end of autumn, at the latest by the end of 2012 (we’ll see). Say it is not open, it means that you can not access to the Crown, the Fort and the pedestal of the statue, in practice it can be seen only from the “ground floor”, where you arrive and depart by ferry. A beautiful scams no doubt about it. Continue reading “The Statue of Liberty will reopen (maybe) in autumn”
