The air of Oxford Street, and the surrounding areas, London is the worst in the world for NO2 emissions, or nitrogen dioxide, at least according to what emerges from the results of a new survey conducted by King’s College London.

Odd buildings, the house in the clouds of Thorpeness in Britain

Built in 1923 as a water tower, the building originally pretended already for what was not, trying to blend in with the other surrounding buildings.

It was, in fact, an attempt to insert a functional structure, certainly not beautiful, without disturbing the urban fabric of Thorpeness, in the English region of Suffolk. Worthy attempt given the era in which it was made, though with mixed results, as even then, the terminal part of the tower seemed to be floating in the trees. It is not for less, we are in a busy and central point of London, a place with history and many curiosities well worth a visit and to get close to the National Gallery.

Russell Square Park is a place not well known in London, and that by its small size does not happen to be of the best known parks in the capital. But it is a very “charming” and recommended park especially if you visit the nearby and essential British Museum.

A few meters from the museum, near the famous Hotel Russell, is the park where the sleepers rest by squirrels, take a lunch or relax as we see Londoners do, reading the newspaper or walking with children.

New skyscrapers in London: The Scalpel

We’re nearly there, days inaugurates the new skyscraper in London otherwise known as The Shard; and perhaps because of this news comes a architecture: the skyline of the capital knows no rest and soon will be enriched with a new, very high element. Code Name: The Scalpel.

The project was designed by Kohn Pederson Fox (author of the Heron Tower) will have 35 floors (some say 38) for a total of 190 meters (on this, all agree), as you see in the image, the form is not leaves room for too many doubts; it is just a kind of giant chisel. The British trend in short, it’s a pop-up metropolitan buildings sharp; and wonder if in reaction to such angularity, there never will be a turn towards a style rounded and sinuous. 3 Christmas Markets in London

In London, as in many European cities, every year respect the tradition of the Christmas markets. From November 23 to January 6, for example, will open in 2012 as in previous years Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, where other a market for Christmas shopping there will also be an amusement park, an ice skating rink, a circus and a Bavarian village.
