Best Places for Sports Fans to Travel

Everyone has something they are super interested in, whether it be video games, movies, or anything else. When vacationing and otherwise traveling, it’s always a good idea to take the time to visit where you can make memories. When sports fans think of places they might want to visit, the usual stadiums and various sports fields will probably come to mind first. Of course, there are many other places to check out. Below are some non-stadium places for sports fans to visit in the United States.

Pro Football Hall of Fame

Football – Pro Football Hall of Fame

If you’re a fan of football, then one of the best places to visit is the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This building is sort of a museum that covers all things relating to football. However, it’s not just all about the history of football, as new additions are made to the Hall of Fame all of the time.

Every once in awhile new items are added to the Hall of Fame and new players are inducted. To keep up with new players being inducted, check out sport’s blogs. Larry Muller writes a great blog that has several articles about the Hall of Fame. Check to see if some of your favorite players have already been inducted. If so, it could be worth your time to visit during your next vacation.

Baseball – The Field of Dreams

Maybe one of the most famous baseball movies of all time is the Field of Dreams. Did you know that the baseball diamond used in this movie is open to the public to visit? Even better, it is FREE for the public to visit.

Visitors can walk around the field on their own or they can schedule a tour. Guided tours last about 30 minutes. For the most part, you do not need a reservation to get a tour. However, reservations are required for groups of 20 or more and for groups looking for tours between December through February. After the tour, guests can check out the gift shop to get a souvenir as well.

Basketball – NBA Experience

Lastly, basketball fans are sure to get a kick out of the NBA Experience park at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida. This portion of the park, located on the west side of Disney Springs, has everything a basketball fan — old or young — is sure to enjoy. There are games, trivia quizzes, snacks, and gift shops.

One of the best places to check out while at the NBA Experience is the Hardcourt. Here, there are 13 different “experiences” that guests can take part in. In other areas of the park, you can shoot baskets on large courts, play arcade games, and more.

So, whether you are in Ohio, Iowa, or Florida, there are great sports-related places you can visit on your next vacation. These are just some of the most popular places to visit in the United States. If you keep your eye out, you are sure to find many more great places to explore!
